Algal information

The group of algae is characterized by a simple structure, chlorophyll a and unicellular reproductive structures. Algae do not represent a formal taxonomic group of organisms, but rather a loose collection of divisions or phyla. Algae are in the first case a group of organisms that are characterized by its ecological similarities, as most of them are aquatic and often the base of the aquatic food web.
